Brian P. Grossbard, DVM, DACVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Growing up in Florida, Dr. Brian P. Grossbard, DACVS, knew he wanted to combine his deep love for animals with his passion for medical science. In pursuit of his life-long dream to become a veterinary surgeon, Dr. Grossbard earned his DVM from the University of Florida in 2005. As a graduate, Dr. Grossbard completed a number of internships in Boston and New York such as emergency medicine, internal medicine, general and specialty surgery, medical neurology and neurosurgery, and a comprehensive 3-year surgical residency.

Dr. Grossbard has practiced veterinary surgery in New York since 2006. Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, his interests include spinal trauma, critical care of surgical patients, minimally invasive surgery and surgical oncology. He is also a certified provider of stem cell therapy.

Currently a referral based surgeon at prêtpet Veterinary Wellness, Dr. Grossbard is also a surgical specialist at Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers. He also regularly volunteers his expertise at local rescue organizations. When Dr. Grossbard is not providing leading veterinary care, you may find him chauffeuring his rescue pup, Nemo, around the Greater New York City area. He also enjoys bicycling, traveling with his dog, and savoring all the art, food and culture Brooklyn has to offer.

Amy Kantor, VMD – USDA Accredited

Amy Kantor, VMD – USDA Accredited


Originally from DC, Dr. Kantor spent much of her youth in New York where both her parents’ families lived. She always considered New York City as home. She was named to the Best Veterinarians list in New York Magazine in 2002!

After graduating University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School, Dr. Kantor completed an internship and surgical residency at the prestigious University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. In 1990 she returned to the states and practiced in Massachusetts, where all three of her sons were born. Dr. Kantor’s passion for her work extends beyond caring for animals to the people who are family to their pets. She enjoys seeing appointments and getting to know her clients over the years as their pets age.

Dr. Kantor is passionately committed to volunteering her services to indigent people so they can provide care for their pets. She is an active volunteer for vets international and The Global Alliance for Animals and People (GAAP) in their annual surgical campaign in a Mayan community in Guatemala. Through these organizations, she has also been able to serve indigenous people’s pets in Chile.

Dr. Kantor is an avid environmentalist and active participant in Riverkeeper, the Hudson River environmental group. She is a lifelong runner and bikes to work most days. Dr. Kantor volunteers at the LES Girls Club, mentoring girls interested in science. She believes strongly in contributing to the community and is excited to be a part of the team at prêtpet Veterinary Wellness, helping the local community and its families grow through the care of their pets.
